ALENZA 2006 DECANTER’S BEST RIBERA DEL DUERO AT PROWINE
Alenza Gran Reserva from the Condado de Haza bodega was chosen by Decanter to showcase on its stand at Prowine in Singapore. The high-ranking competition attracts the most outstanding international wines from around the globe. Only the most exclusive and award-winning wines at the Decanter AWA 2017 are invited to participate together with the prestigious UK wine magazine. An honour which this year went to Alenza 2006, rated as the best Ribera del Duero wine with a score of 96 out of 100 and a Platinum Medal. This achievement firmly places this classic Alejandro Fernández wine among the very best wines from Spain.
Alenza is the result of the diligent work carried out over the past four decades by the Condado de Haza bodega, owned by renowned winemaker Alejandro Fernández. This exceptional Gran Reserva is made traditionally by fermenting the must together with the stems – in other words non-destemming – using grapes grown on centuries-old vines in the Viña Valera vineyard from outstanding harvests that boast the level of quality required. This natural, unprocessed wine is a true reflection of its native land, an exceptional terroir on the banks of the mighty River Duero which affords the wine unique nuances. Intense maroon in colour with a cherry-red rim it emits aromas of wild fruits with balsamic and mineral hints. A smooth, intense finish in the mouth leads to a fruity aftertaste. This wine is, without doubt, an excellent value-for-money choice and is endorsed by two of the most important awards in Asia: the Decanter AWA and the China Wine and Spirits Awards.
