Great Tasting at Dehesa La Granja : Thirty Years of Grupo Pesquera
The winery at Zamora was the privileged venue of this historical event
From ‘Tinto Pesquera 1976' to ‘Dehesa La Granja 2003' and ‘Tinto Pesquera Crianza 2004', t he attendees to this really unique occasion enjoyed a complete tour through the wines of Grupo Pesquera, being able to appreciate their impressive aptitudes to improve in the bottle as well as the mastership of Alejandro Fernández dealing with Tempranillo grapes.
Under the guidance of the journalist Javier Pérez de Andrés, the historical tasting took place last July 28 th in the impressive premises of Dehesa La Granja , the winery of the Pesquera Group located in Vadillo de la Guareña , in the province of Zamora .
Nearly fifty specialists had the opportunity to explore the wines of Alejandro Fernández, beginning with one of the first —‘Tinto Pesquera 1976'— till the last ones released into the market. Besides, the Master of Tempranillo offered also, ‘out of programme', his mythical ‘Janus 1994'
Journalists, critics and sommeliers —although with a varied array of personal preferences— agreed in defining as excellent the career of Alejandro Fernández, and were unanimous when honouring the braveness of this man, far from commercial trends and facing at-the-time risky challenges as El Vínculo and Dehesa La Granja.
Among attendants to this Great Tasting were the already mentioned Javier Pérez de Andrés (Semana Vitivinícola, Punto Radio, El Norte de Castilla and TV Castilla y León), Carmen Fuentes (ABC), Jonatan Armengol (Época and Radio Intereconomía), Ernesto Portuondo (Sobremesa), Miguel Ángel Reviriego (Vinos y Restauración), Miguel Fernández (Los Negocios del Vino y La Restauración ), Javier Pulido (Vinum and Mi Vino), Paloma López (Sibaritas), Luís Barcia (Cocina Futuro and La Clave ),... ; the sommeliers Pablo Martín Martín (President of the Castilla y León Sommeliers Association), Luís Ángel López Sastre (Secretary of the Castilla y León Sommeliers Association), Francisco Plaza Torres (Castilla y León Champion of Sommeliers), Eva Alonso Sánchez (Sommelier at the ‘Lara' Restaurant, in Toro) and the Mayor of Carpio (Valladolid), Máximo Gómez.
