Solidarity
and Culture in Condado de Haza
Great music,
great wine and great pieces come together
once again in Alejandro Fernández’s
Castilian château
Every time Alejandro Fernández applies
his formula, it turns out to be just as
effective: bring together impressive surroundings,
(the bodega Condado de Haza, the birthplace
of great wines), a high level Russian orchestra,
a renowned director, a paramount of romantic
music, (nothing less than Beethoven’s
9th), a good cause and a benevolent family,
(Alejandro Fernández’s) and
the result is simply spectacular.
This great combination of factors was repeated,
once again, for the annual concert, now
in its sixth edition, presented every year
by the Pesquera Group. As was to be expected,
the ample audience (close to 500 people)
was delighted by the moving and lively concert.
At sunset on 27th July, Maestro Ramón
Torrelledó’s baton masterly
conducted the Russian Rostov State Symphony
Orchestra, soloists Maria Rodríguez
(Soprano), Nina Strizhova (Mezzo soprano),
Israel Lozano (Tenor) and Petr Makarov (Bass),
and the choral groups Coral Vaccea, Orfeón
Cantabro, Coral Tomás Luis de Victoria,
Coral Don Bosco, voces del Pueblo y del
Mar and Coral Regina Angelorum, in a grandiose
interpretation of Beethoven’s ‘Ninth
Symphony’.
Universally renown and considered one of
the German composer’s greatest works,
it is a piece of enormous dimensions that,
nevertheless respects the classic structure.
Composed when the author was completely
deaf, the piece’s forth movement was
to be the later popularised ‘Ode to
Joy’, based on the poem by Schiller,
that shapes the lively, powerful and emotive
final stretch of the last full symphony
composed by Beethoven. A specially suited
piece for a charitable concert, as the choir,
in the final allegro, proclaims that, “All
men on earth become brothers”.
Proceeds from the audience’s donations,
at first count, were a little over €12,500,
which once finalised will be given in their
entirety to ‘ADECYL Castilla-León’
(Association for Scoliosis, Kyphosis and
Lordosis) and ‘ASPAYM Castilla-León’
(Association for Paraplegics and other major
handicaps). By way of a ‘VIP row seating’,
the account for donations (nº 3035
0267 31 2671028680) will remain open for
a fortnight, so that those who could not
assist but would like to contribute to these
associations can make their donations.
The proud hosts, Alejandro and Esperanza,
together with their daughters Olga, Mª
Cruz and Eva, were accompanied by Vasilyeva
Svetlana, (Minister for Culture for the
Rostov-Don Region and acting ambassador
for the magnificent Russian orchestra),
as well as several other personalities.
After the concert, they all enjoyed an apéritif
in the purest Castilian style, where, of
course, the wines from the Pesquera Group,
Dehesa de la Granja, El Vínculo,
Condado de Haza and Tinto Pesquera held
a place of privilege.
