Tinto Pesquera at “EXCLUSIVE
Ribera del Duero - VINEXPO 2005”
Michel Bettane
chose twelve ‘Riberas’ to represent
this Appellation at the French trade show.
The selection process was really scrupulous.
First of all, three groups of four persons
each –all of them experts and members
of the Tasting Committees of the Appellation’s
Council– tasted blindly and scored,
following O.I.V. rules, the 86 wine samples
(one for each winery) presented. The final
score for each wine was the arithmetic mean
of the individual scores.
On April 13, Mr. Michel Bettane did –
in the Tasting Room of the Appellation’s
Council – a rigorous blind taste of
the 50 wines best punctuated, dividing them
in groups of five. The prestigious French
expert selected eleven wines for the taste,
adding one more by his own professional
criteria, such as the wine prototype from
aged Ribera del Duero.
These eleven wines represented the Guarantee
of Origin during the Edition of the Fair
Vinexpo, which has been celebrated in Burgundy,
from June 19 to the 23, 2005. The selected
wines were presented by Mr. Bettane to a
select group of professionals (from France
and other countries) with the main purpose
of maintaining and empowering the high quality
image of the wines from Ribera del Duero
in the international market. The wines selected
had been produced between the period from
1998 to 2003. There were also a Vega Sicilia
from 42 and a Red Pesquera – Millenium
from 96.
